For a long time there has been a lot of talk about Google’s new project into the newest era of smartphones. Project Ara has increased in popularity ever since they sold Motorola to Lenovo earlier this year. Google’s phoneblok team recently released a video showing off the progress of the new modular smartphone project. The latest news shows off a few excellent things that make the system better. With the use of special electropermanent magnets the pieces slide into place with ease and are held fast and strong. These specialty magnets snap into place and do not drop their charge unless they are shocked with a surge of voltage that will be controlled with a specially made app. This video also looked into the 3 endoskeletons that all the parts slide into. Though not the real thing, these renders give us a great insight into this. The model that has been getting all the attentionis the medium model. However, there is something to be said about the phablet-sized endoskeleton is shown to support nine modules on the back end of the unit. The mini endoskeleton is said to be on the market for about fifty dollars is supposed to handle about six modules. Want to know more about the Ara project?
